Wow Sentence: To the old pitcher, they were like his own best knuckleball come back to haunt him. In, out, up, down-not even the pitcher, much less the batter, knew which was it would break. He kept swinging and missing.
Why: The old baseball player, Grayson, did not know how to read until Maniac taught him. The wow sentences show how hard it was for Grayson to know the sounds of the vowels because they make different sounds. For example, the letter a sounds different in the words ant, play, autumn, and you don't even hear it in boat. Since Grayson was a minor league baseball player, a pitcher, Jerry Spinelli, compared vowel sounds to the different pitches a pitcher throws to confuse the batter. In this case, Grayson was the batter. His word choice is far more effective than saying "Grayson had trouble sounding out the vowels." Instead, Jerry Spinelli creates a vivid comparison for the reader.

Sentens: "This is your second warning," a voice rumbled, so powerful it shook the earth.
I think it is a wow sentence because when it said, "so powerful that it shook the earth", I can picture a voice that would be so booming that it could be like a huge earthquake. I could also hear that voice in my head. The sentence showed how loud his voice was compared to our inside voices when we talk. I love sentences that allow you to really form a picture in your mind!

Wow sentens: It was kind of od when dad brought in the big box. I thought that he was showing us his old Army soldgers. But the he opened the box... There was a dog in side I thought I would never have one. Bu the sad part is he likes mom the most.
I think this a wow senthens becaues he thought he would never get a dog and He was not aloud to get one. A nother reson is he is so use to look at is dads old army colection he acsholy got A dog.

Wow sentence: Grover held a box in his hand and pulled out what was inside. It was the bull/persons horn. He said,"I thought you would want this as a memory. It's covered in blood because you killed him from it's horn and because the blood splattered everywhere!"
I think it was a wow sentence because why would you want to keep that? I also think it is a wow sentence because there is no suck thing as a bull/person living or at least one that was ever living that I know of. And last but not least it can be a wow sentence because it seems cool that Percy Jackson was strong enough to pull out the bull/persons horn and kill him with it.

Wow Sentence: Now that Rodrick knows I have another journal, I better remember to keep this one locked up.
Why I think this is a Wow sentence:
I think he has to hide his journal from his brother because his brother may want to read it and see what he is writing about. He may also want to take it and show it to his friends. He may also write some stuff in the journal. His journal is supposed to be private and only he can look at it because he writes his feelings and private thoughts.

My WOW sentence: " As Julie Eric and Neal jumped underwater, Eric said "This is a beautiful place". They wore a sea helmet which let them talk, they wore a sea belt which brought them underwater and back to the surface again. "Help" Julie yelled, "I'm being pulled by a tentacle". She remembered something to be on the look out for a wizard.So she punched him in the red nose."
I think this is a WOW sentence because Julie punched a animal in the nose. And that they were brave enough to help their friends by getting a dangerous gem from a dangerous person.

Wow Sentence: Amy thought that she could live in a secret library but that was before she almost died in one!
I think this a wow sentence becaues I think that would be so cool but that she almost died in there is not so cool. I bet that my sister could live in a secret library with all the food and water she needed!!!

I did read the rest of the book and it might not sound like a wow sentence to you but I will tell how it is to me... after that she gets a great voice and the little brown jay has a not so great one but then the girl gave her sarf and the girl said " I wish you always could be in blue" and then the jay was and now not a brown jay but a blue jay!

My WOW sentence: “But he told Laura he was a wildcat from Tennessee.”
Why: Mr. Edwards had told Laura he was a wildcat and that makes me think that he can run, growl, pounce and roam around everywhere just like wildcats can. It also makes me think of Mr. Edwards being mean and nasty but he is not. Instead of Laura saying that Mr. Edwards was from Tennessee she wrote that he was a wildcat from Tennessee.

Wow Sentence: Born only a year apart, Fish and I were nearly the same height and looked a lot alike, both with hair like sand and straw-- hair like Momma’s. But while I had Poppa’s hazel eyes, Fish had Momma’s ocean blue ones.
Why: I think this is a wow sentence because it allows me to see what is written. This helps me know what the characters look like, judge a little bit of there personality like if there tuff and mean or friendly. But I’m guessing there friendly because they have straw/or sand colored hair witch gives me a clue that there hair was blond. They were the same height. The girl has hazel eye color but the boy had ocean blue. This gives me a clue that they look like their parents. Then I start to picture the characters in my head.

My understanding: That Hugo and Isabelle are haveing trouble with get along and that Isabelle is getting nousey in Hugo's stuff when Hugo doesn't like it.

Why I think this is a WOW sentence is because Julie punched a animal in the nose within having no idea what it was or what it might be and that they were brave enough to help their friends by getting a dangerous gem which in my case I think was very well done from a very dangerous person.

My WOW sentence is... " Yep. His mother made a pitching motion. 4 dozen baseballs is all he wants. I guess he's going to throw at that darn net all day long. Can you belive it? he just got out of the hospital! I belive it, Nick said. He couldn't have been any happier."
I think this is a wow sentence because there dad lost his right arm in a war. He was right handed. I that is a great thing when some one can do that. Mostly if the just left the hospital. So I would be very happy if I were that mans son.

Sentence:Pirates took us on a far-away island were a dragon was in a cage.Then buzz boy picked the dragon up and safe their life's.I think this is an awesome sentence.
I think buzz boy did the right thing because if they would have stayed the cage and the dragon woke up the dragon.They would have got burn up with fire from the dragon.That is my awesome sentence.

WOW Sentance:A boy Roger throwed-up on the floor! It was the disgustingest thing I have over saw.
I think it is a WOW Sentance because it makes me say WOW when I read it and that is why I think it is a WOW Sentance.

Wow sentence: The old scar on his forehead,which was shaped like a bolt of lightning, was burning beneath his fingers as though someone had just pressed a white-hot wire to his skin.
Why I think that is a wow sentence: I can picture how Harry was reacting when his scar was burning. I picured him yelling, with his hand pressed against his scar.

Wow sentence: Ramona was afraid she thought every one would laugh and not play with her because her sheep caustume she was also afraid that she was not going to be able to be the sheep in the play.It makes me think wow because I even thought that know one would like her sheep caustume and know one would play with her but every one liked her sheep caustem and did still play with her.

WOW Sentence: "Not long after Colton became a pint-size collection agent , he got in a little bit of trouble. Nothing huge, just an incident at a friends house where he just in a little tug-of-war over some toys."
I Think This Is A WOW Sentence Because: This sentece gives a fantastic picture in your head. It makes you see 2 3 year old kids pulling on both ends of a toy standing up in the living room almost going to brake the TV! It also makes you feel like your 1 of the kids in the fight or it makes you feel like you are a witness. This sentece just makes me think WOW that is a great way to write this sentece! That is why I think this is a WOW sentence!!!
